Match cut tutorial.

We had a match cut tutorial at the beginning of our lesson which we were told that they were use to shows actions being carried out from differnt angle; almost as it it was from differnet points of view. They showed us how we could embedd match cuts with editing in order to add interest and create a flowing piece.

We were then shown a short clip and we were required to spot all the match cuts that were shown. This proved to be extremely difficult as the shots were place together brilliantly. The shots were so quick and because of how the editing was done they were almost invisible. I found myself watching the acting without any realistion that the were edited. The purpose of this execcise was to show us the level of expectation that out match cuts were intented to be like in our preliminary film.

The class was then given the brief for the next filming task which we would have to include what we learnt about match cuts. We had to prove how much we understood by coming up with a storyline of a conversation between two people using match cuts to create 'Shot reverse shots' when editing. This was a little bit different as we now had to think ahead about how we would edit our filming in order for it to make sense.

After careful and thorough decision making it was decided that we would based our filming on a woman who is held hostage a room. We wanted to show a man coming into a building whilst still showing the girl in the room which is where our match cuts would come into place.

This time we had to include a over the shoulder shot, close ups, mid shots, wide shots and a high angle shot. Creating the storyboard for our ideas were so easy which was a change considering that last time we found it hard to create to amount of shots we were asked to.
